ALG Research, the Democratic polling and strategy firm founded by John Anzalone, is renaming itself Impact Research. In addition, Partner Molly Murphy is being named as President of Impact Research.

“This is an exciting moment for our company and for the polling industry,” said founder John Anzalone. “Molly’s leadership, experience, and talent is the future of polling. She is a leading voice in the industry, having won the 2019 AAPC Pollster of the Year award.”

“It’s such an honor to move into this role,” says Murphy. Having taken on this additional responsibility in a key election year, Murphy says “I am so proud of the work we have done and the role we have played in some of the most consequential Democratic wins over the past two decades. I think we have one of the most talented firms in Democratic politics and look forward to what the future holds.”

Founder John Anzalone emphasized how the new name represents the collaborative spirit at the company. “Here at Impact Research, we have an incredibly strong team of pollsters, data analysts, and project staff committed to innovation in the industry. It is the right time for the firm to be known for both the breadth of its talent and what we do every day to make an Impact for our clients and the country.”

The firm boasts five other partners—Jeff Liszt, Brian Stryker, Matt Hogan, Kevin Akins, and Zac McCrary—who will continue in their roles leading the firm.

Since Anzalone founded the firm in 1994, Impact Research has beaten more Republican congressional incumbents than any other polling firm in the industry. The firm has worked for every Democratic Presidential nominee since 2008, including Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and most recently Joe Biden. Impact served as President Biden’s primary pollster during the particularly challenging 2020 campaign and John Anzalone and Matt Hogan continue to work with the White House and the Biden advocacy group Building Back Together.

Founder John Anzalone and Impact Research developed the recently announced Wall Street Journal Poll in collaboration with the WSJ and conservative pollsters Fabrizio, Lee & Associates. The Wall Street Journal Poll will continue into 2022, with additional data (especially related to midterm elections) being released over the course of the year.

Impact Research currently polls for Governors Gretchen Whitmer, Steve Sisolak, John Bel Edwards, and Roy Cooper; over a dozen members of Congress; the Building Back Together advocacy group; the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee; the Senate Majority PAC; American Bridge; Third Way; the Democratic Governors’ Association; and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, among many others.

Impact Research has offices in Washington, DC, Boston, MA, Chicago, IL, New York, NY and Montgomery, AL.
